April 17, 2019 Meeting Minutes
John welcomed everyone.
Old Business – Joan ordered our honey sticks and we were able to get a good deal so got 1000 honey sticks for $102.50.
Anyone needing Honey sticks for speaking engagements call Joan
New Business –
1. Donation to the Extension for running all our copies, use of the room at no charge, etc. Don made a motion to Donate $200 to the Penn State Extension, Coudersport. Bob Second, all approved
2. Donation to Solomon’s word. – Joel wanted more information
Tom said he would look into it.
Next Meeting – Wednesday, May 15th, 6 PM at the Penn State Extension, Coudersport. Topic of discussion – Collecting swarms, if time allows, we will go into making splits also.
Don suggested we get Craig Cella to come talk to the group.
Joan will get in contact with Craig.
The next three months we need
1. Someone to organize a picnic. (you do not need to do the food; the club and members can supply food)Just pick the date time and location.
2. Apiary visit for June, July and August. Need locations to visit. Volunteer your apiary.

Program
Joel discussed Honey, Raw, organic honey and creamed honey.
Joel had some honey to share. He also had us use a refractometer and let everyone look thru it.
Joan discussed registering your facility to extract and bottle your honey. Location must have hot water, no pets, sinks to wash, sterilize and hand wash. If you have a pet you might be able to use a basement or garage area that you do not allow pets in, but must have hot water.
Register thru PAPlants.
1. You can register and pay $35. You get a certificate and can use the information, Reg. with the Dept of Ag on your labels and information, web site etc. Annual inspection.
2. You can register for free but no certificate and can not use the Reg. with Dept of Ag on any of your information.
Annual inspection.
3. You can register and have someone else extract and bottle your honey. On the forms as you register, list on the form who does it for you.
Labeling, must have certain information, before ordering your labels make sure you know what is needed.
