Minutes from September 18, 2019 Meeting
Meeting was called to order. 24 people attended.
Nominations for officers were:
President – Dave Smith
Vice President – Tom Schweikart
Secretary/ Treasurer – Jeffrey Moore
Paper ballots were passed out. Bryan Perrin reviewed all ballots and announced that all approved the nominations.
The new officers will start on January 1, 2020, for a 2-year term.
The new officers will be the signers on the checks at JVB Bank.

Please also let us know if you can come on Friday night from 4-7 at the Bradley’s to welcome Michael Bush. Dinner included for free. Space limited.

Discussion on getting your bees thru the winter.
Tom Hoppe brought in a candy board he makes and uses.
He explained the use for the board and how he makes it.
Other topics included:
Use of wind breaks
Different types of wraps
How to winter in one deep, two and more
Use of mite chemicals and chemical free
Splits and the importance of doing them
Dave suggested people read up on Kirk Webster.

- Every hive/hives has to be registered with the Department of Agriculture.
- If you want to sell honey you must have your location (Honey House) registered with the Department of Agriculture.

- Don’t forget to register your hives in the ELAP program with the government before January 1st. This program might help you re-coup some of your losses. To qualify, one of the requirements is that it must be a business so you have to sell your honey. Questions, call your Farm Service Agency. Potter/McKean/Cameron Counties the office number is 814-274-8522 ext.2
