NCPBA Meeting Minutes
July 17, 2021
Joel’s Apiary, Hebron, PA
President Joel Caldwell called the meeting to order at 1:05 pm with 12 members in attendance.
Joel welcomed new members Amber Collins and Kyle Long.
President Caldwell read the minutes of the 9/18/19 meeting which were never approved. David Houck motioned for the approval of the minutes, seconded by Gene Thompson. The motioned passed.
Joel then read the minutes of the last meeting on 5/22/21 held at Mitchell Park in Coudersport. David Houck called for approval of the minutes and H. Gene Thompson seconded the motion. The motion passed.
Sec/Treasurer Jeff Moore was not in attendance to give his report.
Old Business:
Joel updated the swarm list is updated and Penn State Extension has the list.
The resources guide update is in progress.
Future potential beginner beekeeping programs were discussed. Joan Bradley offered to host a class at her property.
New Business:
Payment of club expenses were discussed:
Expenses for the May meeting were detailed by the president as well as the cost for 2 books which were recently donated by the club: a Michael Bush beekeeping book at Oswayo Valley Library in memory of John Bradley; On the Spot Queen Rearing in memory of Marlene Smith at Moscato Brown Library in Emporium.
Dave Houck made a mention for payment of above expenses and Tim Wright seconded it. The motion passed.
The fall election of officers for the coming year will be held at either the September or October meeting. President Caldwell will form a nominating committee and an auditing committee if no members volunteer.
Ag Progress Days are August 10,11, and 12 in Centre County. The PA State Beekeeping Association is looking for members to work at their ice cream booth. Check out the PSBA website if you are interested.
The next club meeting will be on Wednesday, September 22 at 6:00 pm at the Coudersport Penn State Extension Office if the meeting room is free.
President Joel adjourned the meeting at 1:35 pm. A talk on Varroa mites followed.
