North Central PA Beekeepers Assoc.
Minutes for meeting on 03/21/2018
21 members attended, (Number includes one guest)
Margarita Lopez- Urbine was our speaker from PSU.
She spoke on three topics.
* Tracking Feral Bee Health in Pennsylvania
* COMB: Conventional and Other Management of Bees
* P4: Pennsylvania Pollinator Protection Plan
The first was her Feral Bee Project which is going on all around PA. We have several members involved in that.
She compared the feral bees and managed bees and explained what they hope to prove or disprove from their project. In the research so far, they are seeing more diseases with the feral bees but they are wondering if they are able to cope with the diseases better than managed bees that have sometimes had treatments.
They are still looking for feral bees for their research and you can go to their web site to report the location of feral bees.
